ROS® - CHARTER OPERATIONS AND SUPERVISION
TECHNIQUES
There is no more important job in the dive resort environment than charter boat operations; and this is where you’ll put theory into practice. During the course you’ll have multiple opportunities to serve as a Mate and Resort Divemaster/Instructor on board our 60-foot custom-built PRO DIVER II. While on board, you’ll learn how to conduct dive briefings, direct on board dive preparation, act as in-water supervisors and log many hours interacting with actual customers. Combined with in-class preparation, this experience enables you to learn actual practical techniques to assure an enjoyable and safe experience for your customers.
Note: You do not take the place of paid crewmembers. Your function is to learn, working under staff supervision at all times.
The knowledge and skills you acquire will include:
- Piloting, anchoring and docking the vessel
- Basic navigation and seamanship
- Marine radio operations and rules of the road
- How to supervise a wide range of diving activities
- Boat briefing, safety and emergency procedures
- Use of lines and knots
